Moreover the virus is transmitted to the same individual from one body part to another with the touch-scratching, a process called autoinoculation.
The molluscum contagiosum can be started from a pimple and autoinoculation be done, usually up to 20, and more. The time where someone can be stuck until the skin lesions can be up to 6 months but the average apparent 2-7 weeks (incubation time). Cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen is effective but causes pain when applied and excessive use can cause complications.
The surgical treatment consists in removing and crushing injuries with forceps (scraping) and then applying tincture of iodine, but it is a painful process and children usually done under local or general anesthesia.
Another effective alternative therapy is the use laser but also because it causes local anesthesia applied pain.
